Let’s start right from the basics, that is, from how to turn on Apple Watch when the device is turned off. Probably, if you are looking for such information, you have ordered an Apple Watch or you are about to buy it and you are inquiring about its functioning; if you already have your Apple Watch … well, you can turn it on just like you did when you first took it out of the sales package!
In any case, all you have to do is hold down the side button of the smartwatch, until the Apple logo is in the center of the display. After a few seconds, you will see the watch face you have chosen to use, with the current time and all complications active.
If this is the first time you turn on the Apple Watch, however, you will have to follow the procedure of initial configuration of the smartwatch, which I explained to you in detail in my tutorial on how the Apple Watch works.
The speech just made is valid when the Apple Watch is completely off. If, on the other hand, the device is I unload or simply with it idle screen you must follow the instructions that I will give you later, again during this tutorial.

Apple Watch alerts you when the battery level reaches 10% and, therefore, it is necessary to charge the smartwatch. If this is not done, after some time, when the battery is too low, the device automatically enters mode Low consumption: this means that it allows you to view only the time, through a stripped-down interface (without complications, animations, etc.), and that the function is deactivated to automatically activate the display when the wrist is moved.
To turn on Apple Watch in Low Power Mode and display the time, it is necessary to press the side button of the smartwatch. To exit the low consumption mode, however, you simply have to charge the Apple Watch and wait for it to reach a sufficient percentage of charge to support the standard watchOS mode of operation: when this happens, the device restarts and automatically returns to its standard operating state (with watch face, complications, etc.).
If, on the other hand, you have manually activated the Low consumption mode of your Apple Watch (by touching the percentage of charge in the watchOS Control Center and moving the relative lever to the right), you can restore normal operation of the watch and, therefore, “turn on “the Apple Watch by pressing and holding the side button until the Apple logo on the screen.
If you need more information on charging Apple Watch, don’t hesitate to read the tutorial that I have dedicated to the topic in which I also explained how to charge the Apple smartwatch on the go and simultaneously with other devices.

Once we have explained how to turn on the Apple Watch, it is time to focus on the display activation of the clock, which can be done in various ways.

If you use an Apple Watch Series 5 (or a later model), you can count on the mode Always active which allows you to keep the display of the smartwatch always on in a low-power mode, which shows the information on the screen with colors, brightness and animations reduced compared to normal (the standard display of contents is automatically restored to the movement of the wrist, to the tap on the screen or after using the digital crown).
To activate the mode Always active on your Apple Watch (knowing that this leads to an average consumption of 10-15% more over the course of the day), press the Digital Crown order to access the app list, and invoke the application Settings (the one with the gear icon).
On the next screen, go to Screen and brightness than on Always active and activate the aforementioned mode. If you want to protect your privacy, also activate the option Hide sensitive complications hide calendar events, messages, heart rate, and other information when the wrist is down.
Move your wrist

All Apple Watch models feature automatic screen activation when you bring your wrist to your face. If this does not happen, it means that this feature has been disabled, perhaps by mistake; that the Apple Watch came into Low consumption mode, or that, unfortunately, the device has problems and must be sent for assistance.
Before you think about the worst, however, check that the function to automatically activate the display at the movement of the wrist is active. To do this, “wake up” your Apple Watch by doing tap on the screen by pressing the side button or the Digital Crown then press the Digital Crown to access the app list, and select Settings (the one with the gear icon).
On the next screen, go to General> Activate Screen and, if necessary, activate the lever for the option Activate the screen when you raise your wrist. If you want, by scrolling down the screen, you can also tick the option Activate for 70 seconds so that, with each activation, the Apple Watch screen stays on for 70 seconds instead of 15 seconds.
Scrolling the screen further, you can also find the option to have the Apple Watch screen wake up with the last app used instead of the watch face, choosing whether to do this always, within 2 minutes or within 1 hour since the last use of the app (or never if you always want to show the dial).
At this point, your Apple Watch should automatically return to wake up with a flick of the wrist; if not, if the clock is not in Low consumption mode invite you to contact Apple supports it may have hardware problems.
Touch the display

As mentioned above, you can activate the Apple Watch screen simply by doing a tap on the display same.
There is no option to activate in this sense, therefore, if your smartwatch does not respond to the tap, the Low consumption mode or there could be problems of various kinds: I suggest you try to switch off or reset the smartwatch and, in case of persistence of the defect, of contact Apple support.
Use the Digital Crown

In addition to the wrist movement and the touch on the display, you can also “wake up” Apple Watch using the Digital Crown lateral. To be more precise, you can press the Digital Crown to turn on the watch screen at the maximum brightness set, or, alternatively, you can rotate the Digital Crown upwards to turn on the smartwatch display with increasing brightness values.
The first function is active by default and always remains so (unless there are hardware problems); the second, on the other hand, must be activated in the device settings. In this regard, you can check if this feature is already active on your Apple Watch by going to the menu Settings (the gear icon found in the app menu) and selecting items General> Activate screen.
If necessary, activate the lever for the option Activate the screen by turning the crown upwards And that’s it.

Your Apple Watch no longer wants to know to turn on? Although you followed my suggestions, does the smartwatch no longer activate when you move your wrist and/or when you press on the display or digital crown? If so, you may be dealing with a hardware failure, which should be brought to Apple’s attention.
To do this and, therefore, contact the apple support linked to this web page select the topic related to your problem (ex. Power supply and battery charge) and choose whether to ship the watch to Apple, schedule a support call or book an Apple Store appointment, based on your preferences.
As for the costs of a possible repair, it all depends on whether the Apple Watch is still under warranty or not and whether it is covered by Apple Care. In any case, on the Apple site, you can find the complete list with the repair costs of the Apple Watch out of warranty and one support page dedicated exclusively to turning on the Apple Watch.
